Woman constable in Hyderabad hospitalised after alleged suicide attempt over marital dispute
A woman constable in Hyderabad allegedly attempted suicide after being pressured by her husband, also a constable, to undergo an abortion. She is undergoing treatment after consuming tablets at her residence in Yousufguda. Police are examining the case.
Hyderabad: A woman constable attempted suicide at Yousufguda after her husband who is also a constable asked her to undergo abortion.
The constable working at Panjagutta police station married her colleague in June 2025 at a temple in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. “Difference arose between the couple as the woman wanted to continue her pregnancy while her husband was forcing her to undergo abortion as he intended to marry another woman,” an official said.
On April 14, the woman consumed 28 tablets at her residence located at Yousufguda. Two days later, she informed her friend who rushed her to a private hospital on Thursday evening. The lady constable is currently undergoing treatment.
