Siddipet: A woman allegedly attempted suicide by consuming rodenticide at the Gajwel ACP K Narsimulu’s office on Monday, alleging police inaction over a dispute with her neighbours.
The woman, Begum Bi (38) of Sayyadnagar, said she had approached the Raipole police as her neighbours were frequently quarrelling with her family and attacking them. She alleged that the neighbours had threatened them with sharp weapons. When she did not get justice, Begum Bi said she approached the Commissioner of Police’s office in Siddipet on Monday.
However, she said she did not get a chance to meet the Commissioner. She later went to the Gajwel ACP’s office to lodge a complaint. While she was made to wait for a long time, the woman, who had brought rodenticide with her, consumed it. The police rushed her to the government hospital in Gajwel after snatching the bottle from her.
In a press statement, Gajwel ACP Narsimulu said the woman had made similar attempts twice earlier at the Raipole police station. The ACP said Begum had also filed complaints against her husband and neighbours multiple times. He added that the Raipole police had registered four cases against her in the past for allegedly creating a nuisance in the village.
