Mancherial: A woman killed her six-year-old daughter by tying her to her waist when she allegedly died by suicide by jumping into a well at Lingapur village in Dandepalli mandal on Sunday. Family disputes were suspected to be the motive for her suicide.
Police said that Gotla Rajitha, wife of Anjaiah, ended her life by plunging into the well. She murdered her daughter Akshita by tying the girl to her waist while resorting to the drastic step. The bodies of the two have been retrieved from the well.
Although the exact reason was yet to be ascertained, it was learnt that family disputes might have driven her to kill her daughter before committing suicide. She, however, handed over her three-year-old son to one of her relatives. Her husband was away from home at the time of the incident. She was married to Anjaiah eight years ago.
Police visited the spot and began a probe into the incident. Further details are awaited.
