Medak: A woman died while her husband and two young daughters sustained critical injuries when the couple attempted suicide by jumping off the Medak court building on Saturday night, after allegedly throwing down their children first.
The deceased, identified as Ramya (24), a resident of Doulthabad in Siddipet district, died on the spot from severe bleeding injuries. Her husband, Naveen Goud (30), an auto driver, and their daughters, Ruthvika (5) and Sasvika (2), suffered serious injuries in the incident.
According to police, Ramya, whose parents are from Rukmapur village in Ramayampet mandal of Medak district, married Naveen in 2019. However, the couple reportedly developed serious differences following the birth of their second daughter. Ramya had moved to her parental home in Rukmapur about a year ago.
When Naveen went to Rukmapur to persuade his in-laws to send Ramya back with him, an argument ensued. After being denied, he allegedly attacked their house later that night using firecrackers. A complaint was lodged by Ramya’s parents, following which Naveen was arrested and jailed.
The couple had come to Medak court on Saturday to attend a hearing related to the same case. There, another argument broke out, after which they allegedly decided to end their lives. Naveen and the two children were rushed to Gandhi Hospital and Niloufer Hospital respectively, as their condition turned critical.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
