Hyderabad: A 35-year-old housewife S Sirisha died under suspicious circumstances at her rented apartment in Jamuna towers, Malakpet on Sunday. Sirisha was living there with her husband Vinay Kumar and her in-laws.

The family members of Sirisha are alleging that her husband Vinay Kumar and in-laws were involved in her death, Chaderghat police said.

On Sunday, Sirisha’s family was informed by Vinay Kumar that she suffered a heart attack and collapsed in the house and died. However, by the time Sirisha’s parents and family members reached Hyderabad, Vinay allegedly, in an attempt to divert attention, tried to shift the body to her native village in Domalapenta, Srisailam in an ambulance, the relatives alleged.

When her family reached Hyderabad, they grew suspicious of Vinay’s movements and his vague replies about the reason’s that caused Sirisha’s death.

They immediately informed the police, who with the help of CCTV footage, managed to track down the ambulance and detained Vinay.

Sirisha’s body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The family claimed that Sirisha had visible injuries on her neck, face and other parts on the body and suspected that she was assaulted and killed by her husband. They also alleged that Vinay was harassing Sirisha physically and mentally for additional dowry, the police said.

Based on a complaint, the Chaderghat police are investigating.
