Peddapalli: Even death couldn’t keep this septuagenarian couple apart. In a heart-wrenching incident, a 60-year-old woman died of heart attack within hours of her husband’s death, also due to heart attack, in Vilochavaram of Manthani mandal on Monday night.
According to police, Manthani Lingaiah (65) and his wife Mallamma (60), residents of Vilochavaram, had gone to their daughter’s home in Godavarikhani to attend a cradle function on Monday. After the completion of the ceremony, Lingaiah complained of severe chest pain and died even as family members tried to shift him to a hospital.
While Lingaiah’s body was being taken to Vilochavaram, Mallamma, who along with other family members was following in an autorickshaw, complained of chest pain and died on the spot. The couple also has an unmarried son.
A pall of gloom descended on the village following the death of the couple. Final rites were held in the village on Tuesday afternoon.
