Hyderabad: Woman ends life over dowry harassment in Uppal
For the past few days, Manisha's husband Sampath and his close relative allegedly have been harassing her for additional dowry. Unable to bear their harassment, she hanged herself from the ceiling fan on Sunday
Hyderabad: A newly-wed young woman ended her life by suicide after allegedly being mentally and physically harassed by her husband for additional dowry.
According to Uppal Inspector Election Reddy, A Manisha (24), daughter of Akula Mallaiah from Maddirala mandal in Suryapet district, fell in love with P Sampath from Tungaturthi mandal in the same district while they were doing their paramedical course.
They got married on February 14 last year at the Arya Samaj in Uppal. Sampath lives in Ramanthapur and works as a lab technician in a hospital.
For the past few days, Sampath and his close relative allegedly have been harassing Manisha for additional dowry. Unable to bear their harassment, she hanged herself from the ceiling fan on Sunday. The Uppal police are investigating.
