Hyderabad: A 24-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide along with her three-year-old son by setting themselves ablaze in an agricultural land in Budheera village under the Marpally police station limits in Vikarabad on Saturday.

According to the police, Akhila took the drastic step as she was depressed after her husband Amar Singh deserted them and left for Delhi a few weeks ago. Akhila was staying at her parent’s house at Kalkuda village in Vikarabad. Her parents B Dasharath and B Baghamma assured that they would give her one acre of agriculture land to earn a livelihood.

“But Akhila could not come out of depression and took the drastic step along with her son,” the police said. The incident came to light when Akhila’s grandfather Hanumaiah saw the bodies the bodies in the field and informed village sarpanch Indira Ashok who alerted the police.

The police shifted the bodies to the Vikarabad hospital mortuary. A case was registered and investigation is on.
