Woman from Maharashtra gets 10-year jail term for ganja smuggling
A Maharashtra woman, Mohini Santosh Thakur, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined Rs 1 lakh for smuggling 28 kg of ganja from Odisha to Maharashtra. Police intercepted her on February 2, 2024, at Mankapur in Gudihathnoor mandal
Adilabad: A court here on Tuesday sentenced a woman from Maharashtra to 10 years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh for smuggling ganja two years ago.
The First Additional District and Sessions Court Judge, Dr Shivaram Prasad, pronounced the verdict against Mohini Santosh Thakur from Mangrulpir tehsil in Washim district, Maharashtra. She was found guilty of smuggling 28 kilograms of ganja on a scooter from Odisha to Maharashtra.
The incident occurred at Mankapur in Gudihathnoor mandal on February 2, 2024, when police intercepted her and seized the contraband.
