Woman gang-raped near temple in Nagarkurnool; police nab six of eight accused
Although the incident took place on Saturday night, it came to light only after the police began questioning several individuals and taking a few into custody. The woman, accompanied by her relative, visited the temple for darshan that night. After completing the darshan, they decided to stay at the temple.
Nagarkurnool: A 30-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by unidentified persons when she went for darshan at Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple, Urkondapeta in the district.
Though the incident occurred on Saturday night, it came to light after police started questioning a few people, besides taking a few others into custody.
The woman along with her relative went for darshan at the temple on Saturday night. After darshan, they decided to stay at the temple.
During midnight, when the woman went to attend nature’s call in the bushes near the temple, the accused caught hold her and the dragged her into the bushes. When her relative wanted to rescue her, he was attacked and tied to a tree, according to reports.
Later, they gangraped the woman and fled from the area. After the incident, the Urkonda police launched an investigation and took six persons into custody. Eight persons were involved in the incident, and two are absconding, the reports said.
