Kothagudem: In an incident at the Government Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Centre at Ramavaram in Kothagudem, a pregnant woman, unable to bear the labour pain, stood beside her bed and gave birth there.

The woman, Bhavani from Dammapet in the district, had come to the hospital for her first delivery. As she gave birth beside her bed, the newborn sustained injuries after falling to the floor, while the woman suffered excessive bleeding.

Pregnant women in adjacent beds were terrified on seeing the woman’s heavy bleeding. When the family members staged a protest alleging negligence by the staff and doctors, the Two Town police had to intervene.

Local SI Jeevan Raj reached the hospital and spoke to the woman’s family members. The doctors stated that the woman had not informed them about her labour pains. They said that if she had informed them, the staff would have attended to her.
