Hyderabad: The world of Internet has proved once again that nothing is impossible. A new addition to e-commerce field, where everything is available at a click on the phone, took the netizens by surprise. Well, now you can order the sperm and insemination kit online. Shocked? Don’t be. Read on to find out the story of a woman from England, who was desperate to have a second child and ordered the kit online, and… gave birth to an ‘e-baby’ recently!
Stephenie Taylor, 33, from Nunthorpe, Teeside, in North Yorkshire in England, conceived on her first try and gave birth to a baby whom she named Eden. Stephenie already has a five-year-old son named Frankie with an ex-partner.
Well, when the thoughts for a second baby prompted, she thought she would have to drop her plans as she found out about the whopping price of the process at private fertility clinics.
That’s when she discovered the ‘Just A Baby’ app and ordered some sperm, and then bought an insemination kit from eBay. Meanwhile, she learned how to use the kit with the help of YouTube tutorials.
“If I didn’t have access to all that electronically, then she wouldn’t be here. But I’m over the moon to be a mom again and I’m proud of the way she came into the world,” Stephenie said, according to ‘Mirror’.
How the app works
Suggested by a friend to Stephenie, the app ‘Just A Baby’ works similar to the dating app Tinder. Stephenie wanted a family-oriented man with no history of serious illness, ideally with features similar to her so their child would look like Frankie. And she found her match within a day.
The man then dropped his sperm at her house in January 2020 after having talked it over with Stephenie for over three weeks. “He was nice, warm and friendly, and we had a cup of tea and chatted about the weather,” Stephenie said.
Two weeks after inseminating herself, Stephenie found out that she was pregnant. Soon, the 33-year-old welcomed baby Eden on October 15 last year while describing her as a “real online baby”.
