Warangal: A 26-year-old woman from Haripirala village of Thorrur mandal of Mahabubabad district gave birth to a baby boy weighing five kgs at the government-run Community Health Centre (CHC) in Wardhannapet in the district on Wednesday.
Speaking to Telangana Today, superintendent of this 30-bed facility, Dr Bethi Narsimha Swamy, an anaesthetist, said that Gaddala Spandana, wife of Parashuram, an electrician, was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday and a C-section was performed in the afternoon. “Both mother and child are doing well. This is her first delivery. The couple was married 11 months ago,” he said, adding that a normal baby’s weight is around three kg at birth.
Surgeon Dr Manasa Reddy, Dr Narsimha Swamy, paediatrician Dr Tirupathi Reddy, staff nurses Divya, Sunanda, and Bhaskar were part of the team that performed the surgery.
It may be recalled here that one Bodduna Jhansi (24) from Ellandha village of Wardhannapet mandal had given birth to a baby girl weighing five kg in the same hospital on May 22, 2021.
The Wardhannpet CHC also created a record in the State by performing the highest number of 210 deliveries in April, 2019. “Nearly 1,200 deliveries have taken place at our hospital since January this year,” Dr Swamy added.
