Hyderabad: In a futile robbery bid, a woman was attacked at her house by an unidentified person with a knife at Rajendranagar on Thursday night. He fled from the spot without taking any valuables, as the victim raised an alarm.
According to the police, Padmamma (48) of Upparpally in Rajendranagar, was at home with her husband Bhujanga Reddy when the unidentified person approached her in the guise of searching a house for rent.
Seeing the ‘To-Let’ board at the victim’s gate, the suspect walked-in and started enquiring Padmamma about the rent and other details. “During this, he suddenly took out a knife and threatened her to give her gold ornaments. He tried to snatch the gold chain from her neck, but she resisted his attempts,” said an official.
The suspect stabbed Padmamma on her leg and fled from the spot when she started shouting for help and her family members and neighbours rushed to her rescue.
The Rajendranagar police booked a case and are investigating.
Efforts are on to identify and nab the suspect.
