Siddipet: A love marriage between a man and a woman from different communities led to the murder of the man’s mother at Basvapur village in Jagadevpur mandal on Tuesday.
According to police, Aparna and Abbas, both residents of Basvapur, had fallen in love and married against the wishes of their families. However, Aparna returned to her parents’ home a few months ago. On Tuesday morning, she once again left with Abbas, triggering tension between the two families.
Aparna’s father allegedly confronted Abbas’s mother, Saheena Begum (52), accusing her of supporting the couple. In a fit of rage, he attacked her with an iron rod. Begum succumbed to her injuries while being shifted to the government hospital in Gajwel.
Police registered a case and launched an investigation. Additional police forces were deployed in the village to prevent any further disturbances.
