Sangareddy: A woman was killed and two others injured when a reckless tanker driver ran over them on NH-65 at Pothireddypally junction in Sangareddy town on Thursday afternoon.
According to Sangareddy rural police, the driver crossed the junction despite the red signal on the busy stretch. Pedestrians had begun crossing the road after the green signal appeared on their side when the tanker, heading towards Hyderabad from Zaheerabad, hit them.
The victim, Vijayalakshmi (56), was crushed under the wheels of the vehicle and died on the spot. The two others were shifted to the government hospital in Sangareddy for treatment.
Police have taken the driver into custody and registered a case.
