In Khammam, Preja allegedly hanged her two daughters before taking her own life, reportedly feeling ashamed after her husband was questioned by police

Khammam: A woman allegedly killed her two daughters and later died by suicide at Nidhanapuram of Madhira mandal in the district on Thursday.

Preja (35), before hanging herself, allegedly hanged her children Mehak (6) and Menurul (7) to death at their residence.

The children’s grandmother, who lives close by, had come to the house to check on the kids, after the two, who visit her daily morning, did not turn up in the day.

When she found the main door was locked from inside, she looked into the house from an open window and saw them hanging from the ceiling. Then she alerted the neighbours who broke the door open and found the trio dead.

It was said that the woman’s husband, Shaik Bhaji, was picked up by Khammam police for questioning in connection with a case and they asked her also to come to the police station. Preja is said to have taken the extreme step as she felt the incident was insulting.
