Woman kills two-year-old son, dies by suicide in Medak

A 24-year-old woman in Medak district allegedly strangled her two-year-old son and died by suicide at Khajapur village. Police said she had been depressed following her husband’s suspicious death months ago. A case has been registered and investigation is ongoing.

Medak: A woman killed her two-year-old son before dying by suicide at Khajapur village in Chinna Shankarampet mandal on Tuesday morning. The deceased were identified as Akhila, 24, and her son, Riyansh Goud, 2.

Akhila is believed to have strangled her son before ending her life. Locals found the bodies inside the house and alerted the authorities.

Her husband, Praveen, had reportedly died under suspicious circumstances a few months ago, after which Akhila had been in depression. Police said family issues appeared to have driven her to take the extreme step.

A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
