Medak: In a shocking incident, a woman and her lover murdered her two-year-old daughter three months ago and buried the body on the outskirts of Shabashpally village in Shivvampet mandal. The crime came to light on Friday after police took the duo into custody.
According to investigating officers, Mamatha, a resident of Shabashpally, married Bhaskar of Raipole in Siddipet district five years ago. The couple had two daughters. However, Mamatha returned to her parents’ house along with her children in March this year after serious differences with her husband.
While staying in the village, she began a relationship with Fayaz, a local resident. On June 7, Mamatha went missing with her younger daughter Tanusri, while Fayaz also disappeared on the same day. Following this, Raju, Mamatha’s father, lodged a missing complaint at Shivvampet police station.
During investigation, police traced Mamatha and Fayaz to Narasaraopet in Guntur district. On questioning, they confessed to killing Tanusri on June 7 and burying her body on the outskirts of the village.
The body was exhumed on Friday in the presence of doctors, and samples were collected for forensic tests. Further investigation is under way, and the police are expected to brief the media on the case later in the day.
