Mancherial: A woman and man were arrested on the charges of duping a youngster after honeytrapping him in Mandamarri on Thursday.
Mandamarri Inspector Shashidhar Reddy said that Boddireddy Mounika, a resident of Guntur of Andhra Pradesh and hailing from Veenavanka in Karimnagar district, and her friend Shanigarapu Madhukar from Veenavanka were the arrested persons.
Mounika reportedly confessed to extracting Rs 85,000 from a youngster from Yapal in Mandamarri in a phased manner under the pretext of medical emergencies.
She admitted to befriending the youngster, when he contacted her after receiving a call from an unknown phone number in March. Madhukar revealed that he threatened to lodge a complaint with police for speaking to the woman.
Bellampalli ACP Ravi Kumar commended the Inspector, Sub-Inspector Rajashekhar, head constable Ajay and woman home guard Uma for nabbing the two.
