Medak: A woman panchayat secretary in Chippalturthi village of Medak has come under government scrutiny after she openly shared civic issues with BRS leader and former Minister T Harish Rao during his visit on Monday.
Shortly after the interaction, Medak District Collector Rahul Raj reportedly directed the district panchayat secretary to serve a memo to the official, identified as Sruthija. The move has sparked surprise and outrage among villagers, BRS leaders, and the officer herself.
During his visit, Harish Rao noticed a garbage collection tractor parked on the panchayat office premises and asked why garbage collection had ceased. Sruthija explained that the panchayat had no funds even to buy diesel, and she had personally spent around Rs. 80,000 to cover office expenses.
The panchayat workers also told Harish Rao that they had not received salaries for the past three months. The former minister, after inspecting the village, remarked on the non-functional street lights and other civic issues.
Following the Collector’s directive, the District Panchayat Officer (DPO) issued a memo to Sruthija, instructing her to submit a rejoinder regarding media reports on her statements.
