Hyderabad: In a gruesome incident, a woman was set ablaze by another woman in Nalgonda on Saturday. The victim died on the spot, while her five-month-old baby suffered severe burns in the incident, which occurred in Ketipally village of Nampally mandal.
According to reports, Mamatha (25) was married to K Nagesh, and the couple had a baby. However, Nagesh was allegedly having an extramarital affair with V Sujatha, a resident of the same village.
Mamatha had warned Sujatha to mend her ways and demanded that she stay away from Nagesh, but she did not relent. Bearing a grudge against Mamatha, Sujatha allegedly poured petrol on her while she was feeding her baby at home and set her ablaze, the reports said.
After hearing her screams, neighbours rushed to rescue Mamatha, but their efforts failed. They immediately shifted the baby to a hospital. Police have taken Nagesh into custody, while Sujatha is absconding, the reports added.
