Sangareddy: A married woman, who allegedly eloped with her lover, was stabbed to death by her husband, after police traced the eloped couple in Jadcherla of Mahabubnagar district. The gruesome murder occurred on Monday, when the assailant, Siddha Reddy, plunged a dagger into her throat. Death was instant for her and Reddy was taken into custody immediately.
The deceased woman, Kavitha (29), was alleged to have eloped with Pavan, a native of neighbouring Karnataka district, on March 27. Pavan and Kavitha befriended each other on Instagram, and they eloped. Following a missing complaint given by the husband Sidda Reddy, police kept Pavan’s phone under surveillance and found that he was in Jadcherla.
A policeman accompanied Sidda Reddy and one of his relatives to bring back the eloped couple from Jadcherla, but Pavan was reported to have escaped as they approached them in Jadcherla. Following this, Kavitha was being brought back to Zaheerabad in the same car. It was said that while the policeman sat in the front passenger seat, the woman, her husband and their relative sat on the rear seat.
When the car reached Nandikandi in Sadasivapet mandal, Sidda Reddy whipped out a dagger and plunged it into her throat. Even as the other passengers reacted, Kavitha died. Sidda Reddy was immediately overpowered by the policeman. Her body was shifted to government hospital for a post-mortem exam. Investigation is in progress.
