Karimnagar: Woman stages protest for 41 days at in-law’s home, ends life
The woman, who waged a protest demonstration at her in-law’s house for 41 days, consumed pesticide on Wednesday, vexed by the indifferent attitude of her husband and his family members.
Karimnagar: A 26-year-old woman, who attempted suicide in front of her in-laws home in Huzurabad on Wednesday, died while undergoing treatment at MGM hospital, Warangal on Thursday.
The woman, who waged a protest demonstration at her in-law’s house for 41 days, consumed pesticide on Wednesday, vexed by the indifferent attitude of her husband and his family members.
The local residents informed the police who shifted her to Huzurabad area hospital. When her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to MGM hospital, Warangal, where she died on Thursday.
Suhasini, a resident of Kadapa of Andhra Pradesh, was married to Narahari Sujeeth Reddy, a native of Huzurabad town. They had become friends on Facebook in 2011 and fell in love subsequently. In November 2020, they got married in Arya Samaj, Hyderabad and established a family in Hyderabad.
After spending some time with Suhasini, Sujeeth Reddy came to Huzurabad, promising her that he would bring her to his parents house after convincing his parents. When Sujeeth Reddy failed to return to her, she lodged a complaint with Kadapa police in 2021.
Suhasini landed in Huzurabad on November 26 last and started a protest after Sujeeth Reddy and his family members refused to accept her.
An MSc (Microbiology) graduate, Suhasini used to work in Dubai before she got married to Sujeeth Reddy. She came to India to marry Sujeeth Reddy. Even as Suhasini was continuing with her protest, Sujeeth Reddy, who works as supervisor in Aaditya hospital, Hanamkonda, got married to another woman, who also work in the same hospital.
On coming to know about the second marriage of husband, Suhasini was upset. Moreover, Sujeeth Reddy’s family members were allegedly harassing her. Unable to tolerate the harassment, she took the extreme step and left behind a a suicide note.
Shiva Reddy, brother of the deceased, lodged a complaint with Huzurabad police on Thursday. Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Sujeeth Reddy and four of his family members and began investigations. The entire family is absconding since the incident, police said.
