Mancherial: Mild tension prevailed when women activists of the Congress and members of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi exchanged heated arguments at the residence of MLA Nadipelli Diwakar Rao here on Thursday.
A large number of women activists laid siege to the residence of Diwakar Rao, objecting to remarks of his son Vijith Kumar against the DCC president K Surekha. They staged a sit-in in front of the residence of the MLA. They raised slogans against Vijith and demanded him to tender an apology to the president.
Meanwhile, some followers of MLA and members of the TRS party arrived at the spot and opposed the protest. They picked an argument with the agitating women. As a result, tension prevailed for a while. However, police rushed to the residence and pacified warring groups and dispersed them. They advised the activists of the Congress and members of the TRS to follow peaceful means.
Vijith during a recent press conference alleged that Surekha uses her followers in wearing her shoes, drawing ire of the members of the Congress.
