Karimnagar: District Judge and Chairperson of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), MG Priyadarshini said that providing free legal services to weaker sections was the main aim of DLSA.
The District Judge participated in the concluding session of an awareness programme on legal services organised by DLSA in Shanagar of Ramadugu mandal on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, she reiterated that instead of spending most of the time watching TV serials and mobile phones, women should develop awareness on laws. To educate the people about Fundamental Rights and Duties and free legal services facilities provided to the poor through Article 39 of the constitution, DLSA organised awareness programmes in 1,244 villages in the erstwhile Karimnagar district as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav from October 2 to November 14.
DLSA would arrange advocates by paying fees to argue on behalf of the poor in criminal and civil cases. Without knowing it, the poor were appointing advocates though they were not financially capable.
Economically backward, women, children, unorganised sector workers and weaker sections would be provided free legal services facility, she informed. Additional Collector (local bodies) Garima Agarwal, and few advocates also spoke on the occasion.
