Women officers head five key departments in South Central Railway for first time
For the first time, South Central Railway has women officers heading five key departments , Operations, Commercial, Finance, Security and Medical. The officers are ensuring efficient train operations, passenger safety, financial discipline and healthcare across the zone, officials said.

Hyderabad: For the first time in the history of the South Central Railway (SCR), five of its most crucial departments, Operations, Commercial, Finance, Security, and Medical are currently being led by women officers.
These departments, known for their demanding responsibilities, play a vital role in ensuring smooth train operations, passenger safety, financial discipline, and healthcare services, a press release said.
The current leadership includes K Padmaja (IRTS, 1991 batch), the Principal Chief Operations Manager, overseeing train scheduling, punctuality, and freight operations and Ity Pandey (IRTS, 1998 batch), the Principal Chief Commercial Manager, handling passenger services, freight revenue, and business development.
Senior railway official Aroma Singh Thakur (IRPFS, 1993 batch), IG-cum-Principal Chief Security Commissioner, is leading the Railway Protection Force with several security initiatives like Operation Yatri Suraksha and Meri Saheli.
Likewise, Dr. Nirmala Narasimhan (IRHS, 1989 batch), the Principal Chief Medical Director, responsible for healthcare across eight major hospitals and 40 health units in the zone and T. Hema Suneetha (IRAS, 1993 batch), the Principal Financial Advisor, is ensuring strong financial management and revenue growth.
