Mancherial: Women in Samaguda village of Kasipet mandal staged a protest carrying empty vessels on Friday, expressing their anguish over being forced to use stream water for bathing and washing clothes due to the failure of a water motor under the Mission Bhagiratha scheme.
Women from 26 families in the village said they were unable to get sufficient water from the hand pump and had no option but to rely on the nearby stream. They lamented that the issue remained unresolved despite repeated complaints to the officials.
Officials of Mission Bhagiratha said steps were being taken to address the issue and prevent a drinking water crisis in the village. A mechanic has been hired and the motor is expected to be repaired within a couple of days.
