Hyderabad: Ensuring woman safety has been the most important aspect for the State government and the Telangana police ever since separate Statehood was achieved, with a milestone being achieved through the setting up of a specialised Women Safety Wing, said Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy here on Tuesday.

Speaking at the inauguration of the SHE-Bharosa Cyber Lab, NRI cell, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit and Missing Persons Monitoring Cell in the Women Safety Wing building premises at Lakdi-ka-Pul on Tuesday, Mahender Reddy said the Women Safety Wing was working towards fulfillment of government’s commitment to provide safety and security to the women.

“The SHE-Cyber Lab is a specialised unit and is intended to deal with cyber complaints, especially those that are received by She Teams in a systematic manner. It will also maintain the database regarding offenders of crimes against women and children,” he said adding that the data so analyzed through complaints or web based would be utilized for tracking, tracing and detention of suspects and the lab would concentrate on crime against women and children including human trafficking, kidnapping, missing cases and child sexual abuse cases.

The Cyber Lab would also usher in a professional approach by Anti-Human Trafficking Units as well as She Teams, while the NRI counseling cell would be used to provide counseling in NRI, domestic violence issues.

Swati Lakra, Additional DGP, Women Safety Wing, described the functioning of various modules and their achievements.
