Hyderabad: About 750 women running under the stars in the night is not something that happens often. But, this is going to change on Saturday. The Hyderabad Runners Society is organising the second edition of Starlight Strides 2021 – Women’s Nigh Run. The run being organised in partnership with Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) is being seen as a way to encourage women to reclaim their own safety and empower them.
Organised at University of Hyderabad campus on October 23, the night run will start from 8:00 PM and as per a release by HRS about 750 women runners are expected to participate. The HRS is made up of a large group of passionate runners who apart from enjoying the sport of running have been actively involved in promoting running as the preferred choice of fitness.
The run will have three race categories – 5kms (without timing chip), 5kms (with timing chip) and 10kms (with timing chip). Interested people can contact the organisers at 9701055611 or send a mail to support@hyderabadrunners.com.
The Chief Guests for the night run would be UoH vice chancellor Dr Basuthkar Jagaedeeshwar Rao and Cyberabad women and child safety wing head DCP C Anasuya.
