Worker dies after roof slab falls at Hyderabad university

A 41-year-old construction supervisor died after a portion of the ceiling collapsed at Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University in Koti, Hyderabad. The incident occurred during renovation work at Darbar Hall. Police have launched an investigation into the accident

Hyderabad: One person died after a major portion of the ceiling fell on him at the Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University in Koti on Saturday morning.

The victim, identified as Prasad Mahto (41), a construction work supervisor and a native of Jharkhand, was supervising the renovation work taken up at the Darbar Hall located on the university campus.


Police said Mahto was inspecting the work when suddenly a big portion of the RCC slab roof collapsed and fell on him.

“He suffered grievous bleeding injuries on his head and was immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital with the help of his co-workers, where the doctors declared him dead,” said a police official from Sultan Bazaar.

The Sultan Bazaar police are investigating the case. Officials said that based on further investigation, necessary action would be taken.
