Hyderabad: Industries and Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao here on Wednesday said the works pertaining to installation of 125-feet height statue of Dr. B R Ambedkar near NTR Gardens would be completed by December this year.

Speaking after reviewing the progress of the works along with the Social Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar and others, he said the bronze statue coming up in 11 acres at NTR Gardens would be the tallest statue of Ambedkar in the world. The State government was spending Rs.150 crore for installing the statue along with the construction of a meditation centre, photo gallery and meeting hall and among other amenities.

A large number of tourists would be visiting the premises once the construction works were completed, Rama Rao said, underscoring the need for implementing the principles of Ambedkar in the country. He said the Minister Eshwar was reviewing the progress of the works for the last eight months.

Rama Rao said Telangana was formed according to Article three of the Constitution written by Ambedkar. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao led the movement and won separate Telangana. The Chief Minister was following the footsteps of Ambedkar and working sincerely for the welfare of the people as per their aspirations, he said.

“Development movement is now underway in Telangana since more development and welfare schemes are being implemented in the State and no other State in the country is implementing such initiatives,” he said. Dalit Bandhu and Rythu Bandhu, which were significant schemes, were being implemented successfully with the cooperation of all people.
