Yadadri power plant to be dedicated to nation by January 15, says Bhatti
Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the 4000 MW Yadadri Power Plant would be dedicated to the nation by January 15. He highlighted free power schemes, jobs for land losers, and Congress’s commitment to uninterrupted electricity despite rising demand
After coming to power, the Congress government conducted a public consultation in February 2024 and obtained environmental clearances.
Since then, a weekly calendar of tasks was prepared and progress was ensured accordingly. In the process, two units were already dedicated to the nation, he said here on Friday.
All arrangements, including a railway line for coal supply and townships for workers and officers, were being executed as per fixed timelines. Coordination with BHEL, local public representatives and officials was also being ensured, he added.
Countering opposition charges, the Deputy Chief Minister said misinformation had been spread among people that if Congress was elected, there would be a power crisis in the State.
“However, they have been proved wrong. Congress means current, current means Congress,” Bhatti Vikramarka said.
The government was spending Rs 17,000 crore to supply free power to 29 lakh agricultural pump-sets and 51 lakh families (200 units per family). Despite the challenges of free power schemes and rising electricity demand, the State Government had ensured round-the-clock, uninterrupted quality power supply across the State, he stressed.
The Congress government also took a humanitarian decision to provide jobs to all land losers, which enabled 500 families to secure employment at the Yadadri Power Plant. Even ROFR landholders who lost land were now being provided jobs by the present Government, he added.
