Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao inspects works at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Yadadri on Tuesday.
Hyderabad: The magnificent Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple atop the Yadadri hill will be inaugurated on March 28 when a ‘Maha Kumbha Samprokshana’ marking the formal opening will be held, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao announced on Tuesday. The much-awaited inauguration will be preceded by eight to nine days of Ankurarpana including Mahasudarshana Homam, he said.
The Chief Minister, who had a seven-hour-long tour of the entire temple complex, meticulously inspected all the elements in the temple that underwent an almost magical transformation over the last six years. During the time, the renovation works were taken up at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore, including Rs 750 crore towards land acquisition, beautification of surrounding areas and road widening works. Devotees were only allowed into the Balalayam for darshan of the deity while the entire area covering the main temple was off limits for them.
The Chief Minister, addressing the media at the end of his inspection trip, said 10,000 Ritviks will perform Mahasudarshana Homam in 1,008 Homam Kundalas under the direct supervision of Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy. Chandrashekhar Rao handed over the Muhurtham Patrika written personally by Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy to Temple Executive Officer Geetha and instructed her to place it at the Lord’s feet.
“People have been asking about the reopening of the temple. It is not in the hands of the government, it has to be decided by priests in accordance with Agama Sastras,” he said. Many priests from different peethams across the country will be invited for the Maha Kumbha Samprokshana and Ankurarpana, besides dignitaries. This entire process including inviting seers and VVIPs requires time, the Chief Minister explained.
“Further, such auspicious ceremonies cannot be performed during Dakshinayanam and have to be conducted during Uttarayanam. Considering all these factors, Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, after holding Vidwath Sabha (meeting with priests), fixed the Maha Kumbha Samprokshana muhurtham on March 28 next,” he said.
Yadagirigutta Temple Development Authority (YTDA) has already constructed Presidential Suites spread over 13 acres for the accommodation of VIPs, including the President, Prime Minister, MP, MLAs and other dignitaries. This apart, 1,500 choultries have been constructed to provide accommodation for 1,000 families in the Integrated Temple City at the foothills.
Dalit Bandhu in Huzurabad after bypoll
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao sent a strong message to the people of Telangana, assuring them that the Telangana Dalit Bandhu scheme will be implemented in the State without any hindrances. Though the Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued orders suspending the implementation of the scheme in Huzurabad Assembly constituency in the wake of the bypoll, its implementation will resume immediately after the election, the Chief Minister said.
Responding to queries at a press conference after his visit to Yadadri temple on Tuesday, the Chief Minister felt the ECI appeared to have gone beyond its jurisdiction and issued orders to suspend an ongoing scheme like Dalit Bandhu. “Please don’t worry about the implementation of Dalit Bandhu scheme,” Chandrashekhar Rao said to the people of the State. He pointed out that he had implemented all government schemes after lot of homework and had always brought them to a logical conclusion but had never gone back on his promise.
“How many days can the ECI stop the scheme? Polling will be conducted on October 30, results will be announced on November 2. After the model code of conduct concludes on November 4, I will personally go and distribute the cheques to mark the resumption of the scheme,” he asserted, adding that the scheme was being implemented in the remaining constituencies without any hiccups.
