Hyderabad: Devotees visiting the Sri Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple in Yadadri can get unlimited laddu, pulihora and vada prasadam as the temple management has set up an automated and mechanised prasadam production unit atop the hill.
At present, the temple produces about 40,000 laddus and about 1.5 to 2 tonnes of pulihora every day. The demand goes up during weekends and festivals.
The temple management, in association with Hare Krishna Movement, installed the automated unit at a cost of Rs 13 crore anticipating heavy flow of devotees after the Maha Kumbha Samprokshanam on March 28.
With just three days left for the Maha Kumbha Samprokshanam, the temple management has begun preparing laddu prasadam in large quantities to meet the demand from devotees. The capacity of the automated unit will be four times more than what the temple produces manually. Depending on the demand, the production capacity can be increased in future.
Since last November, trial runs were conducted successfully and the unit is ready for operations, Yadagirigutta Temple Development Authority (YTDA) Vice Chairman and CEO G Kishan Rao said.
After the Maha Kumbha Samprokshanam, experts from Hare Krishna Movement will be monitoring the prasadam production for a few months. During the trial run of the unit, the temple staff members underwent training in operating the unit and preparing the prasadams, he said.
The idea was to increase the prasadam production capacity and ensure top quality without compromising on hygiene in the production process. The good thing about the laddu prasadam was the long shelf life, he said, adding that about 200 grams of pulihora will be packed in air-tight packets.’
