Yami opens up about her ‘impromptu’ wedding with Aditya Dhar
In an interview with ‘Film Companion’, the actor shares that the couple actually just planned on getting engaged but her maternal grandmother insisted on directly getting married
Yami Gautam’s hush-hush wedding with filmmaker Aditya Dhar was the talk of the town throughout last month. Now, the actor drops in some more details of what led to their ‘impromptu’ wedding.
In an interview with ‘Film Companion’, the actor shares that the couple actually just planned on getting engaged but her maternal grandmother insisted on directly getting married.
“We were just supposed to get engaged, and then were going to let time take its due course, but my ‘nani’ was like ‘listen, this engagement and all is not a part of our culture, so how about getting married?’ And then Aditya asked me, ‘Are you ready? Shall we?’ I don’t know what it means, honestly. I’m still not able to absorb the feeling of being married. I feel the same, maybe happier,” she said.
However, as the actor is currently doing several projects, the couple has not been getting enough time with each other, she adds. The duo tied the knot in June this year.
The newest bride of B’town now seems to have her basket full with projects like ‘Dasvi’, ‘Bhoot Police’, ‘A Thursday’ and she is currently shooting for ‘Lost’, in which the actor will be seen playing a scribe.
Quiz her if doing so many projects overwhelms her at times, the actor says it is something she has waited for a long time now. “I think my journey post films like ‘Vicky Donor’ has begun now and I somehow just absorb myself and be happy about it. Yes, it can get a little overwhelming at times, especially when it comes to scheduling. I don’t want to be in a space where there is not much time to do a homework on a character,” she shares with ‘Film Companion’.
The actor adds she doesn’t believe in the volume of projects but would like to make meaningful films.
