Yashoda Hospitals completes 300 kidney transplants in 36 months

Hyderabad: Yashoda Hospitals, Hitec City, on Monday announced successful completion of over 300 kidney transplants within a span of 36 months.
Over the years, all the health care centres of Yashoda Hospitals put together have completed over 3,500 successful kidney transplants. The Hitec City facility of Yashoda Hospital unit alone has accomplished over 300 transplants in 36 months, a press release said.
To commemorate the occasion, the Department of Renal Sciences, Yashoda Hospitals, Hitec City, organised ‘Kidney Care Champions: 300 and Beyond’ function in which Jishnu Dev Varma, Governor of Telangana, was the chief guest. The Governor felicitated family members of donors, patients, caregivers from the hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr G S Rao, MD, Yashoda Hospital, said, “Our multidisciplinary team, comprising nephrologists, transplant surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff, has worked relentlessly with utmost dedication to ensure optimal outcomes for every patient”.
Dr Rajasekara Chakravarthi, Clinical Director and Head of Nephrology, Yashoda Hospitals, Hitec City, said, “Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) has become a silent global health crisis. In India alone, it is estimated that 1 in 10 adults suffers from some form of kidney disease and over 2 lakh people develop end-stage kidney failure every year, requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant to survive”.
