Hyderabad: YMCA Hyderabad got the better of hosts City College Old Boys Basketball Club 58-42 in the inaugural match of the Legends Basketball Tournament while Trinity Basketball Club walloped  Little Flower Degree College and Rising Stars Hyderabad brushed aside Thunderbolts to move into the next round.

YMCA Hyderabad after a slow first quarter which saw them trail 13-16 saw Sumith and Balamahesh pick up the gauntlet as the CCOB players were slow to fall back to defend.  Sumith in particular was fast to break open and receiving passes from Gattu scored from outnumbering situations and Balamahesh scored from set plays and long range even though Moin and siblings Ibrahim Rose Khan and Kareem Rose Khan were scoring but could not match the YMCA   team which led 29-22 at halftime to emerge winners at 58-42.

Trinity Basketball Club,  inspired by a brilliant performance from Hunny, faced little difficulty in a 50-27 win over Little Flower Degree College after being ahead 29-22 at the break.  Joshua was next best for the winner while Mahesh was the only player from LFDC to impress.

Rising Stars Hyderabad were once again led by their prolific shooter Sai who scored 6 three pointers in his personal tally of 26 to steer his side to a 68-40 win over Thunderbolts , leading 30-20 at halftime.  Sahil and Nikhil provided the support Sai needed as the young Rising Stars team picked up the momentum in the 2nd quarter to stretch the lead to 10 before rounding off with a score of 24-10 in the final quarter.

Results: Rising Stars Hyderabad 68 (Sai 28 Sahil 17 Nikhil 8) bt Thunderbolts 40(Vinay 12 Emmanuel 14 Vishwas 8); YMCA Hyderabad 58 (Sumith 21 Balamahesh 15 Gattu 10) bt CCOB 42 (Moin 13 Ibrahim Rose Khan 13 Kareem Rose Khan 11); Trinity Basketball Club 50(Hunny 24 Joshua 13) bt Little Flowers Degree College 27 (Mahesh 16).
