Yoga classes for sanitation workers in Karimnagar
In the wake of Covid outbreak in the second weave, Municipal Corporation Karimnagar is now organising yoga classes for the sanitation workers including sweepers, drain cleaners, and garbage collection workers.
Karimnagar: Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao on Monday said the Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar was giving top priority to the health of safai (sanitation) workers. In the wake of Covid outbreak in the second weave, MCK is now organising yoga classes for the sanitation workers including sweepers, drain cleaners, and garbage collection workers.
Sunil Rao, along with MCK Commissioner Valluru Kranthi, launched the yoga classes at Jyothibha Phule park in Karimnagar on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Rao said one needed to practice yoga regularly to lead a healthy life. He advised the workers to practice yoga for 20 minutes every day in the morning before starting their day’s work. Besides physical growth, yoga also boosts the immune system, he said, adding that the State government, to protect workers from the deadly virus, identified sanitation workers as frontline warriors and administered vaccine.
Kranthi emphasized the need to practice yoga every day in the present Covid pandemic situation, and said that yoga plays a vital role in enhancing the life span of human beings. She advised workers to stay away from health problems by boosting their immunity through yoga.
Local corporator Wala Ramana Rao and others participated in yoga training classes inauguration programme.
