Hyderabad: A young man, whose mother succumbed to Covid-19 in a city hospital a few days ago, died, allegedly by suicide by jumping into a lake in Mailardevpally on the city outskirts on Saturday. According to the police, Srihari (22) from Madhuban Colony was depressed ever since his mother tested positive for Covid-19. He was taking care of her.
However, her condition worsened and she succumbed to the virus at a private hospital a few days ago. Depressed over this, he recorded a selfie video on his phone saying he was fed up of life and wanted to end it and then jumped into in the lake.
His friends, with whom Srihari shared the video, alerted the police, who rushed to the lake and found his slippers. The Mailardevpally police, with the help of swimmers retrieved the body from the lake and shifted it to the Osmania General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
