Jagtial: A 22-year-old youngster from Sarangapur is in trouble in Iraq for the last 14 months, unable to even move out of his room since he does not have his passport with him. A selfie video recorded by him explaining his travails has gone viral on social media on Tuesday.

A native of Sarangapur mandal headquarters, Pallapu Ajay went to Iraq 14 months ago in search of employment. He paid Rs.2.70 lakh to the agent as the latter promised to provide him a high paying job. However, after one week of his landing in Iraq, another agent took his passport and disappeared. Despite his repeated calls, the agent was not attending his calls. Since a passport was mandatory to move outside, he was unable to search for a job.

Explaining his troubles in a selfie video, Anjay said it was not possible to move outside and search for a job without the passport. Moreover, he does not know the local language. So, he was forced to get money from home. He was hardly getting food once a day due to lack of money. Sometimes, he was forced to sleep without food, he said.

Ajay appealed to the State government to help him return to India. His parents Radhamma and Gangdhar also appealed to officials and the government to help bring their son back to India.
