Youngster held for harassing woman in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Cybercrime police on Tuesday arrested a youngster on charges of stalking and harassing a woman on Instagram. The arrested was identified as M Akshay Kumar (23), a student from Hanuman Nagar in Mahabubnagar district. According to police, Akshay found a SIM card on the road in October last year in his hometown and started using it. Later, he created a fake Instagram account with that SIM number and searched for women, which was when he came across the victim’s profile. He sent a follow request and she accepted.
“Though he later damaged the SIM card, he sent vulgar and abusive messages and videos to her. Even after her warning, he continued to harass her,” police said. Following a complaint from the woman, the police booked a case and subsequently arrested him.
