Hyderabad: The Shamshabad CCS police along with the Narsingi police on Thursday arrested a man on charges of cheating several women after promising them loans. He was allegedly involved in 20 cases, police said.
Gold ornaments weighing 10.4 tolas, a bike and other material were recovered from the arrested person, identified as M.Chitti Babu alias Nani (25), a resident of Budvel in Rajendranagar and a native of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the police, Nani targeted middle aged women, who work for meagre wages and promised them loans for their jewelry and decamped with the gold after diverting their attention.
Most of his victims were ASHA workers, hotel workers, toddy sellers, vegetable vendors and domestic helps in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Special police teams formed after complaints were lodged against Nani nabbed him from Janwada in Narsingi.
