Hyderabad: Youngsters have requested the State government to officially recognize Swami Vivekananda’s tour and lecture in Secunderabad’s Mehbooba College on February 13, 1893 as Vivekananda Yuva Diwas.
The speech delivered in front of almost 1000 students and other Europeans is said to be his first open address.
Volunteers of the Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence are running the Sandharshan campaign requesting the State government to officially recognize the day and to conduct week long celebrations from 10-17 February every year.
“The Sandharshan team is running an online petition, which is to be signed by all supporters of the cause, once they garner enough support, the team will take the issue to the notice of the government,” senior Volunteer and Sandharshan team member Narayan Rao said.
The online petition will be available till February 27.
