JD Foundation members donated an umbrella to a cobbler at
Bhadrachalam in Kothagudem district.
Kothagudem: The youth in Bhadrachalam in the district have been reaching out to the needy and making a big difference in the lives of poor with their deeds of charity under the aegis of JD Foundation.
The young members of the foundation donated Rs 10,000 towards fee and other expenses of a student who secured admission into BTech course offered by Kakatiya University. The student, Patra Manasa, is academically bright but comes from a financially poor family.
She needed to pay the admission fee and other expenses by Oct 28, the last date to do so. Foundation member Srirangam Sampath came to know about the predicament of the girl through her father P Krishna, a painter who was unable to arrange the money.
The required amount was raised with contributions from G Suresh, B Sathish and others along with the foundation’s erstwhile Khamamm convener K Murali Mohan Kumar. The amount was handed over to the student and the admission formalities completed on Oct 28, Sampth told Telangana Today.
‘We are also planning to extend all support to help her continue with the studies in future,’ he added.
Similarly, the foundation members donated a stall umbrella to a cobbler, Ramanaiah who works on a pavement at UB Road at Bhadrachalam. ‘We saw him squatting on the pavement without any protection from sun or rain while working’, Mohan Kumar said.
“Hence, we decided to donate the umbrella to provide him shade so that he can work comfortably. Gaberam, a local trader, donated the umbrella,” he said while Ramanaiah thanked the foundation members for their kind gesture.
