Youth’s organs donated to six patients under Jeevandan

A 28-year-old man from Huzurabad in Karimnagar district, declared brain dead after a road accident, saved several lives through organ donation. His family agreed to donate his kidneys, liver, heart and corneas under the Telangana government’s Jeevandan initiative.

Hyderabad: Relatives of a 28-year-old youth from Huzurabad, Karimnagar, Boggula Rahul, who was declared as brain dead, have donated his organs to needy patients under State-run Jeevandan initiative.

On the morning of March 7, Boggula Rahul, working in a private company, sustained serious injuries when his two-wheeler skidded and fell on the road. His family members and friends took him to Hyderabad and got him admitted to a private hospital.


Despite two-days of ICU care, his health condition did not improve and the hospital doctors declared him brain dead on Monday, March 9.

The youngster’s father, Boggula Rajesham and his brother Rakesh made the decision to donate his organs to needy patients. As a part of the initiative, the doctors retrieved kidneys (02), liver (01), heart (01) and Corneas (02), in all a total of six organs, which were allocated to needy patients under Jeevandan initiative.
