Youtuber cheat farmers offering to supply best breed of buffloes
A Sangareddy man was arrested for allegedly cheating dairy farmers through a fake YouTube channel promising quality buffaloes and cows. Police said he collected advance payments from victims before disappearing and found that several farmers across Telangana had been similarly duped
Siddipet: A fraudster took to YouTube to cheat farmers who were searching for the best breed of buffaloes. The accused, Palle Saikiran of Beeramguda in Ameenpur mandal of Sangareddy district, had created a YouTube channel in the name of ‘Lakshmi Dairy Farm’. Highlighting his success in the dairy farming industry, he also offered to help aspiring dairy farmers buy the best breeds of buffaloes and cows.
Saireddy Shankar Reddy, an aspiring dairy farmer from Markook, had approached Saikiran seeking his help to buy 10 buffaloes. Striking a deal for Rs 15 lakh, Saikiran asked Reddy to send Rs 2.5 lakh as an advance through his mobile phone. Later, Saikiran stopped taking phone calls and refused to respond to messages.
After realising that he had been cheated, Reddy approached Markook police. The police launched an investigation and nabbed the accused. Producing the accused before the media, Gajwel Inspector D Ravi Raj said they found that the accused had also cheated several other farmers in Vikarabad and Nagar Kurnool districts.
Advising farmers not to fall prey to attractive posts on social media, the Inspector said there were many cheaters on the prowl on social media. He called upon farmers to file complaints without much delay so that their money could be blocked in the accused’s accounts. Further investigation is on.
