YSRC supporters have bagged bag 82 per cent of seats: Botsa
Municipal Administration Minister Botsa Satyanarayana said the results reflected the people's support to the ruling party's development and welfare programmes.
Tadepalli: YSR Congress Party supporters have bagged 82 per cent of the seats in the first phase of panchayat elections in Andhra Pradesh, according to Municipal Administration Minister Botsa Satyanarayana.
Talking to media persons at the party office here on Wednesday, he said the results reflected the people’s support to the ruling party’s development and welfare programmes.
The Telugu Desam Party won 15 per cent while others bagged the remaining three per cent, he explained. Out of 3244 panchayats to which elections were held, YSRCP won 2637 including those which were decided unanimously. the TDP and its allies on 508 while 99 who were neutral also won, he said, adding that a majority of the neutrals were YSRCP rebels.
Disputing the claim of TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu that the TDP won 38.74 per cent of the seats, Botsa felt it would have been if it was also mentioned where exactly they had won, and added that the TDP president always made false claims.
He also dismissed the victory claims of former TDP minister Devineni Uma, and pointed out that in Mylavaram constituency to which Uma belonged and represented by the YSRCP MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad, the break up of results won was 44 YSRCP, 3 TDP and 1 Independent.
