Defending the decision, the Minister for Agriculture K. Kannababu said that it was not SEC but Nimmagadda Commissioner.
Amaravati: The ruling YSR Congress Party boycotted the meeting convened by the State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar on Wednesday, to elicit the opinion of recognised political parties on the proposed elections to local bodies in the State.
Defending the decision, the Minister for Agriculture K. Kannababu said that it was not SEC but Nimmagadda Commissioner. Ramesh Kumar was running the SEC in an arbitrary manner as per his whims and fancy.
People came to know about his intentions when he postponed the elections even without discussing it with the Government. He did not even inform the Chief Minister about the postponement then as he wanted to attack the government and helped those who aspired for it, the minister alleged.
Kannababu also recalled that the SEC had written to the Centre in the past alleging that a factionist government was at the helm in the state.
