YSRCP victory in Tirupati Lok Sabha by-election was certain and the TDP and the BJP were vying for only the second place, said Minister Kurasala Kannababu
Kakinada: The Telugu Desam Party was scared of the growing popularity of Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy which was why it took shelter under the garb of boycott of zilla parishad and mandal parishad elections, according to Minister for Agriculture Kurasala Kannababu Talking to reporters here on Monday, he said YSRCP victory in Tirupati Lok Sabha by-election was certain and the TDP and the BJP were vying for only the second place.
On Jana Sena Party president and film star Pawan Kalyan’s campaign in support of the BJP in Tirupati, the minister wondered if Pawan Kalyan had forgotten his dialogues of the past. “Has he forgotten Modi’s promise at Tirupati that Andhra Pradesh would be given special category status? Did he not criticise the BJP for the stale laddus given in the name of package? Pawan Kalyan does not stick to his word. Instead of questioning the BJP, how can he criticise us? Why does he not question the BJP on bifurcation promises? Why is he not talking about special category status and Vizag steel plant” he asked.
On Pawan Kalyan’s allegations regarding late YSR’s younger brother Vivekananda Reddy’s murder, the minister said that the incident happended during the TDP rule and wondered whether Pawan did not know about the telephone conversations between the Intelligence chief and TDP Rajya Sabha member CM Ramesh.
Minister alleged that the evidence in the murder case was erased when Chandrababu Naidu was Chief Minister. “Why did he not question the TDP government then? Jagan has handed over the YS Viveka murder case to the CBI. Pawan should know that the CBI is now probing the case and the State government has nothing to do with the case once it is handed over to the CBI. Pawan’s alliance partner is investigating it, after all and why should he fault us? Was it not Chandrababu who stopped the CBI from entering the state then? When there was an attempt on the life of Jagan during the TDP regime, why did Pawan Kalyan not question the TDP then?,” Kannababu asked.
The minister felt that the sin of destroying temples in Vijayawada had caused Chandrababu’s fall. He also wondered why the Centre had not responded when the Antarvedi chariot burning case was handed over to the CBI. Pawan Kalyan also owed an explanation as to why he was supporting the BJP and as to why the prices of gas and petrol were increasing, he noted. He ridiculed Lokesh’s promise as that he would bring down petrol prices if TDP was elected in Tirupati bypoll and said both Lokesh and Pawan Kalyan were making a laughing stock of themselves by their comments.
